THE PERFECT PROM DRESS

Life - 1958 prom conga

There’s nothing like the swish of a prom dress while dancing to some Ella Fitzgerald. The 1950s was the era of the quintessential perfect prom dress.

The key to the perfect 1950s prom dress is a nipped-in waist paired with a voluminous skirt.  A toned down version is popular at the moment but you can go wild with petty coats and nip in your waist with a belt or ribbon to get the full effect.

Our ultimate prom dress is strapless with a sweetheart neck line, but necklines with a folded-down collars such as those seen in Back to The Future, spagetti straps, short sleeves and halternecks are all stunning.

1950s prom dresses were usually between the knee and the ankle but petticoats come in all lengths so you can have 1950s volume no matter how high you like your hemline. Shorter petticoats are much cheaper!
